Note that, in addition to "Wetlands" and "Critical Environmental Area", the form also reflects "Archaeological Sites". This week, I spoke with two NY State Archaeologists with the State of New York Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. They confirmed that both the preserve and the Marion Woods parcel reside inside an area of high Archaeological Sensitivity. They explained the known Archaeological significance of both the areas around Ridge Road Park and the Secor Road have been surveyed and contain a wealth of Archaeological "museums". These two areas bracket Hart's Brook Preserve like book-ends, and the extending zone of Archaeological Sensitivity overlaps in the preserve and the Marion Woods parcel. An Archaeological survey has never been performed in the preserve or the 11 acre parcel. This makes the concept of development even more unconscionable. PLEASE keep sharing our petition.
