We are so thankful for the community support and signatures on our petition to save route 2. While there is much work to be done creating a consistent, sustainable, reliable transit network in Waterloo Region - we demonstrated clearly to GRT and Regional Council that people care deeply about transit here. We are engaged, informed and invested, the decision makers acknowledged that this approach to transit changes was not well done. They are changing that. The new route 34 extension was successfully passed and does cover much of route 2s ridership needs. It is a great compromise and the work GRT planners put into creating an alternate to mitigate the protested termination is appreciate. I am looking forward to maintaining thoughtful and impactful conversations as a transit user and advocate with GRT and ROW and I'm encouraged by the region wide support. I hope to see you out there on our buses and trains!
