Arkansas Valley Conservation Coalition (AVCC) Meeting December 14 On October 14th the  State DRMS sent Zephyr, Ltd. 102 objections based on the adequacy review of Zephyr's gold mine permit application including many sent by AVCC. To see the State's objections go to: https://www.savefremontcounty.org/_files/ugd/80db19_7162bb0cd56b4b72b5d687b9d5d2249b.pdf Zephyr had until December 13 for a response. Zephyr has requested an extension to February 28, 2022 which the State DRMS approved.

Zephyr Minerals has remained quiet during the past four months. They have not talked to their investors about the Dawson Gold Mine since their Press Release on July 5, 2021. Their 3rd quarter financial statement shows operating capital at only $885,383.  A medium-size gold mine would cost $100 million. They will probably file for another extension since the next deadline to submit a response to the 102 objections is due February 7, 2022. They will need to spend an estimated $250,000 to reply to the DRMS. We still need to stay on top of what’s going on and maintain momentum.  Please forward this petition!

AVCC also discussed the risk of the mine to Canon City area ditch water. Most Ditch Water Boards have shareholder meetings every January. AVCC discussed reaching out to shareholders and possibly presenting information regarding the risk to their water from this dangerous gold mine.

AVCC has published a link with background information on the Caribou mine that is polluting water. The link to the Colorado Sun article is on AVCC's News page go to: https://www.savefremontcounty.org/news AVCC collaborated with several other participants to create a new flier.
