Thank you all for coming in person, honking your horn, signing petitions and supporters this campaign.
It was really uplifting and energising to see how many people on a midweek evening at 5pm came along to save the national glass centre. Councillors mainly entered at the back of the building to avoid our ruckus but we certainly made ourselves heard.
Hopefully Sunderland University will see the folly of their decision and the council take the building back for the people.
The university say ‘No one has given them the money to save it’ and we think that makes perfect sense because if the University still own it then we will forever be in the same situation.
The National Glass Centre should be its own entity so that it can reach its full potential away from the restrictions of the very narrow stem based education system we have.
For accredited courses we think another more arts focussed university or college may want to run a degree from the National Glass Centre.
There are good solutions friends! Keep up the momentum. I’ll organise another soon!
