The LASD Board will close the comment period on the LASD-BCS facilities issue tomorrow -- Friday, 11/22, at 5:00 PM.
Please send an email TONIGHT to tell them that you do NOT want a neighborhood school (including both our elementary and junior high schools) closed or moved solely for the benefit of BCS and that the community has said over and over again in various past and current community forums and in voting for Measure N that BCS at the 10th site has to be part of the facilities solution in addition to a strict enrollment cap.
The LASD Board needs to go back to BCS and offer the 10th site/NEC. If BCS wants a single site, then they could choose an enrollment size that will allow them to be at the 10th site/NEC. This solution is the least disruptive to our neighborhoods and community, and it gives them what they want. Additionally, it won't needlessly increase traffic by displacing a neighborhood school with a commuter school and causing a whole school community to commute more than necessary -- impacting all of our traffic.
Please send an email to communityengagement@lasdschools.org and cc: trustees@lasdschools.org, JBaier@lasdschools.org.
Particularly if you did not attend a workshop, please send an email tonight. If you did attend the workshop, send in your thoughts again and remind the Board of the community mandate that you gave at the workshop.
Thanks,
Peipei
