The LASD Board has presented and published the community engagement process for the fall to start in September and end in November with a report to the Board on the outcomes of the process in January.

At this point, the Egan offer is still the deal on the table, so you must remain engaged especially now. We need you to WRITE and SHOW UP at meetings this fall.

Take Action: Please write to the LASD Board, staff and consultants (trustees@lasdschools.org, JBaier@lasdschools.org, communityengagement@lasdschools.org) again AND show up at these meetings (posted at link above) to continue to say what I believe many in LASD want:

• No neighborhood school moved/closed: We do not accept a choice between closing Egan and targeting another school for closure. The LASD community believes in the neighborhood school model, and we don’t want to close any school solely to benefit BCS.
• Equal burden, equal benefit: Reasonable and fair accommodations apply to LASD and not just BCS.
• Sharing can be successful: A single site for BCS doesn’t make sense. Just as LASD students are split by grade at different sites, BCS should also follow the same system. LASD and BCS families I’ve spoken to are okay with sharing, and the Boards should be too.
