BEAUTIFICATION IN ECO SENSITIVE ZONE Killing a lake in the name of beautification is not good for the city, not to carry out any construction that adversely affects the buffer zone, full tank level (FTL) and inflow channel of Rabindra Sarobar. This National Lake plays a very vital role in local hydrology. Some of the ecological importance of lakes are as follows: Lakes contribute significant recharge of ground water and rainwater conservation Lakes of KOLKATA hold good recreation values and are nesting grounds for the migratory birds in the national lake every winter. Lakes are great repository of biodiversity including flora and fauna Support aquatic life Regulates and enhance micro-climatic conditions, Keeps local weather conditions in balance and surrounding cool Ecological indicator Urban flood mitigating structure-Regulates flood waters and minimize economic loss due to flooding Contribute towards natural remediation of waste waters. Therefore, considering ecological balance, bio diversity, ground water recharging and the heat generation from cementing pavements etc etc construction in the name of beautification should be stopped immediately. Green lawn* Green Belt * Fruit & Flower plants *Dredging of lake * Excavation work of lake bed * Cleaning of garbage *Plastic Ban * No smoking * Children park at Hanging bridge* All play grounds should be upgraded * No more Concrete pavements * No more storing of construction materials all over the lake. KEEP THE LAKE CLEAN & GREEN
