Today is Referendum Day in East Hampton.

Polls are open today from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Town Hall.

The proposed FY2027 budget includes funding for both municipal services and the Board of Education. According to the Town Council-approved proposal, the Board of Education budget is $39,900,937, which is 2.94% higher than the FY2026 adopted budget. The proposal also reflects reductions made during the budget review process before being placed on the ballot.

It's also important to understand that property revaluation and the annual budget are separate issues. Revaluation updates property assessments and affects how the tax burden is distributed, while the budget determines the total amount of revenue the town needs to raise for education and municipal services. The Town's tax estimator shows these as separate factors.
