I’m very shocked and sad to read news through a What’s App Group that Sian Vasey has passed away. I got to know Sian through our meeting up to help Save Ealing’s Seven Libraries last year. We attended local ‘consultation’ meetings, protested together outside Ealing Town Hall, demonstrated across the borough and outside some of the seven threatened libraries and on the road, with our placards and banners to challenge Ealing’s Draft Strategy 2019-2023. Then I met Sian at various Ealing Labour meetings. I last saw her at an International Women’s Day event organised by Ealing’s Trade Union Council.
Sian was a fearsome warrior who championed and fought for disability rights, justice and social equality for marginalised and disenfranchised groups.
May Sian’s memory always be a blessing and long may her legacy live on. Photo credit Paul James.
