The Issue

There are several politicians in Nevada who want to eliminate daylight savings time. What this means is

1) An hour less daylight in the evening during the spring and summer. This means less time for families to enjoy the outdoors after school and work.

2) 4 AM sunrises in the summer. They talk about how DST disrupts sleep patterns but when the sun is shining brightly through your windows at 4:30 it will unnecessarily wake up a lot of people before they want to

3) We will be an hour behind California and the rest of the west coast during the spring and summer. This means we will be in a time zone all to ourselves. Imagine an 8-5 business trying to get ahold of someone in California at 4:30. Oops, it will be 5:30 there. Too bad, and don’t get me started on Utah being two hours ahead of us. You gotta feel for the people in West Wendover.

This bill was created by someone who didn’t think this through. Certainly, I want to keep daylight savings time but any change needs to be done on a national level or at least all of the west coast states, not by some state politician looking to make a name for herself.
