As you may already know, the situation we now face is urgent. After more than 60 years of serving our community, Cumbernauld Theatre Trust is at risk of closure unless we can secure vital funding by the end of 2025.
This is because earlier this year, our application for continued multi-year funding from Creative Scotland was unsuccessful. Since then, under new leadership, we have been working hard to secure alternative income through new partnerships and positive conversations with government and funders.
Despite these challenges, we remain focused on the future. Next year marks Cumbernauld’s 70th anniversary as a New Town. We want to be at the heart of those celebrations with a full programme rooted in creativity, community and connection. Without urgent support, the 70th year of this town could instead see the closure of a vital part of its cultural life.
