Legendary Soho institution pub Norman's Coach and Horses' AS WE KNOW IT WILL BE GONE BY JUNE 2019.

Freeholders Fullers are threatening to not renew the lease for Alastair Choat - the current landlord. Alastair and his daughter Hollie have run the Coach and Horses for the past 12 years and have turned the pub into a thriving family business specializing in vegan/vegetarian pub food and reviving the cockney pub singalong tradition; whilst maintaining the bohemian atmosphere so beloved by writers, journalists, actors and artists.

The pub was famously the setting for the infamous play 'Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell' - an homage to one of the pub's many illustrious patrons over the years.

If Fullers take over, they will very likely  strip it of its unique character and spirit, and we don't want this to happen!

The Coach is a traditional boozer that welcomes everybody from prince to pauper with no distinction. The pub plays an important role for the local community to gather to share stories, trade ideas and make new friends. It is one of the last beating hearts that keep Soho’s community together. It is the characters that run the pub that dedicate their lives to the pub and to Soho is what makes this their local.  Allowing people to wonder in and wonder out, alone or with friends, to talk or to be silent, to sing or to dance, to bring their dogs or to love the pub cats. 

It has touched the hearts of lots of people and has helped and will continue to guide many people through difficult times, joyful times and those in between. This is what we are trying to protect.

We need to get as many signatures as possible to help save our beloved pub and all pubs across the country from being taken over by huge pub company's and turn them in to managed houses.

CALLING TO GOVERNMENT FOR A SOLUTION

We now have over 5K supporting us online (5259 at 18.07pm, to be exact) and over 1500 signatures on our in house petition from customers that have been in over the last 2 weeks. The petition is calling for a change in the legislation of Clause G which allows landlords to take the property back when ever they want. In other words we build a business and work really hard, PUBCOs see it  succeeding & growing through all the tenants hardwork and they can take it straight back and claim it as theirs. In other words when it becomes a successful business they want it and can take it back and we have no legal standing.

We also want government  to change the pub code of practice that the government have split for big pub company’s and small pub company’s, as it should be the same for the whole industry as it is in the financial service and in the press industry.

WE DON'T WANT YOU OUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS ,TOURISTS AND SOHOEITES TO LOOSE THEIR PUB.

THIS  GREAT BRITISH ICONIC INSTITUTION! MUST BE SAVED WITH ALL OF YOUR HELP THIS CAN HAPPEN.
