The PJHL’s decision—and the owners who voted to suspend Cloverdale’s season literally days before it started—is a blatant display of the greed that has began to poison minor and junior hockey in BC.

Players, volunteers, coaches, and staff have invested hundreds of hours preparing for the season, yet their dedication is blatantly undervalued by owners who seem intent on canceling it purely out of spite.

These owners have shown they do not care about the development of players or the relationships they hold with the communities in which they play. 

As a hockey community, I encourage everyone to take a moment to decide if this is how we want the trajectory of hockey within BC to continue.

I’m hopeful through legal and social pressure this decision is reversed, and Cloverdale is able to play their home opener on Sept 11th. 

I also hope we as a community, will share this message and fill The Barn to show these owners how important junior hockey, and the players it develops are to our community.
