Dear Campbell Elementary School families,
As part of Jeffco Public Schools (Jeffco) Regional Opportunities for Thriving Schools initiative, tonight the Jeffco staff made a recommendation to the Board of Education to close 16 schools.
Your Student’s School has been Recommended to Close at the End of the 2022-23 School Year
If the Board of Education approves this recommendation on November 10, Fremont Elementary School and Vanderhoof Elementary Schools will become the new neighborhood schools for the Campbell boundary in the 2023-24 school year. The principal of Fremont for the 2023-24 school year will be Mr. David Alex and the principal of Vanderhoof for the 2023-24 school year will be Ms. Michele Rodriguez.
You will have the opportunity to choose if Fremont or Vanderhoof will be your new neighborhood school. It is suggested that if you live north of 64th /Ralston, your neighborhood school should be Fremont, and if you live south of 64th/Ralston, your neighborhood school should be Vanderhoof.
Center Program Impacts
The school’s Significant Support Needs (SSN) program will be moving to Vanderhoof Elementary School. Jeffco’s Office of Student Success will contact center program families with further details.

We understand that this news may be difficult to hear. Our schools have plans in place to support their school communities as they process this information. This guide is also available for use to discuss this news at home. In September and October, community conversations at schools will focus on bringing these school communities together to create stronger, and more sustainable schools where all students and families feel that they belong.
Commitment to a Thriving Student and Educator Experience
Your school will remain open for the 2022-23 school year. We are confident that Ms. Lara Wiant and the staff at Campbell are incredibly dedicated and will keep the focus on students, their experiences, and their learning throughout this school year. If the Board of Education approves the recommendation, Ms. Wiant, Mr. Alex, and Ms. Rodriguez will bring their school communities together as one in the 2023-24 school year.
Public Comment with the Board of Education
The Board of Education will host public comment sessions in October. Dates, times, and locations of these sessions as well as how to sign up to speak will be available on the website.
