After the last update where we let you know that Council unanimously voted to nominate Bydown Terraces for Heritage Listing, on Tuesday the Land and Environment Court rejected the developers attempt to dismiss the Interim Heritage Order. The Court agreed with Council that the terraces have heritage merit.

Thank you everyone who attended the terraces for the Court hearing. While we don't know if it affected proceedings, it definitely made it clear to everyone (including passersby!) there was huge community interest in these terraces. Thank you!

The Land and Environment Court will be holding Court again the Bydown Terraces at 09.30 on Monday the 11th, if anyone would like to attend for half an hour or so. To be clear, this isn't for Heritage Listing which everyone hopes will go ahead, but for the building itself which Council has objected to the bulk, scale, setback, traffic issues, lack of landscaping, etc. Invited residents will speak and then the parties and the Court privately try to mediate the issues.

Our aim is to make the impacts less on the Neutral Bay community than what this huge building on narrow streets is presently planned to.

All support would be appreciated, just to show the Court that the local residents do care about the terraces. Of course, we do hope the Heritage Listing goes through. No building of this magnitude on this very tight location will have anything less than a negative impact on our local environment.

Thanks

Glen
