One of the stars of modern day Hot Rod racing has joined the supporters of our campaign.

Former World and European champion John Christie from Northern Ireland, has backed calls to 'Save Belle Vue'.

Christie, whose glittering career includes being World Champion in 2013, European Champion in both 2010 and 2014, National Champion in 2013 and British Champion in 2017 comes from a family steeped in oval racing traditions.

Upon hearing of the campaign to save the historic stadium late this week, John signed the petition.

" As a sport we have lost too many raceways over the years. I just hope that the council realise the importance of the stadium, not only as bringing much needed revenue into the area, but also joy and entertainment to thousands of fans each year."
