Some good news regarding our Back the BBC petition.

Hi all,
Today I received an email from the Department for Culture confirming that each signature to our "Back the BBC" petition DOES count as a valid consultation submission and will be considered in the same way as each other individual submission.
The Government have only received 28,000 responses to date to its BBC Charter consultation. That means at least 1 in 20 of all the consultation responses received by Government about BBC charter renewal have actually come directly from this petition.
So please promote this petition wherever you can - e.g. in online forums, on Twitter, Facebook and with friends and family. It really is being counted by Government.
How is our petition different from other BBC petitions?
I've set this petition up to follow the BBC Charter Renewal public consultation rules correctly. Each signature we get triggers a new email sent directly to the Government BBC Charter consultation team's email address. Most other BBC petitions don't this (e.g. they email David Cameron) and so most of the other ones, which I and maybe you as well have also signed aren't being considered as a valid part of the public consultation for that simple reason - the wrong email address.
Please do help promote this petition wherever you can, it really is being counted.
