Enjoy this quiet Mother's Day weekend, sip your morning coffee on your balcony, take the beautiful views in, and listen to the birds chirping and the Bayfront rooster calling. Enjoy a quiet Saturday in Downtown Miami. 20 Miles to the north of Bayfront Park, Rolling Loud, the world's largest hip hop festival, started yesterday. It was YOUR effort that succeeded in moving this 3-day mass event from Bayfront Park to the Hard Rock Stadium. Thanks to all of you who wrote letters, came to Bayfront Park board meetings and spoke up, Bayfront Park's Chairman, Commissioner Joe Carollo, declined to bring the Rolling Loud event to a vote at a January Board meeting attended by dozens of Downtown residents. So take a moment to enjoy this beautiful morning. Take a stroll through the park - most of it already fixed up following the spring events (we're told the rest of it will be fixed next week). Then - please take a moment to thank Commissioner Joe Carollo for making this bold decision, addressing downtown residents' plight and looking after the well being of our park.
