According to Environment and Natural Resources in Canada, endangered southern mountain caribou are under imminent threat of becoming unrecoverable. The main driver - destructive logging and industrial activity throughout old-growth caribou habitat. Just last week, twenty-three environmental groups, conservationists, and animal protection organizations sent a letter to B.C. premier, John Horgan and federal Environment Minister, Catherine McKenna, protesting the province’s refusal to protect additional habitat for these endangered creatures.
You can help bring an end to this.
Rather than enforcing the Canadian Species at Risk Act to increase habitat protection, our provincial and federal governments have opted to scapegoat wolves and other natural predators as the main culprits. Since its inception, the wolf cull in B.C. has killed more than 700 individual animals, yet caribou continue to decline. With no end in sight, 80% of interior wolf populations in some areas of B.C. are on the government’s kill list for winter 2019-2020.
