Save Tring Road Allotments Campaign .
This week, further to our application , Tring Rd Allotments were officially given “Community Asset”Status by Bucks County Council !
Furthermore, last night, Aylesbury Town Council’s Direct Services Committee voted to STOP pre-selling burial plots in Aylesbury Cemetery with immediate effect.
The meeting was well attended by members of the public. Apart from Cllr Roger King, Councillors were unanimous in ending the practice.
Town Clerk Keith Gray revealed they have recently promised 30 burial spaces to a family, thereby putting more pressure on burial space.
This decision to stop pre-selling plots comes after local public pressure. Councillors were asked why on earth they continue to accept money, years in advance, for unlimited plots.
Aylesbury indisputably has insufficient burial space now and nothing in the pipeline for other potential locations.
Aylesbury Town Council have not employed the services of a Land Agent to help them seek alternative sites (standard practice used by other authorities).
The Council allows ANYBODY living OUTSIDE AYLESBURY to purchase plots, as long as they pay twice as much as Aylesbury residents pay.
TOWN COUNCILLORS:
At your next meeting we suggest - in view of the current burial space crisis - you put forward a motion to “STOP selling Aylesbury plots to non-Aylesbury residents, just because you can charge them more ! “
BACKGROUND
Aylesbury Town Council has decided to evict the 84 allotment holders on Tring Road, which will destroy a thriving ecosystem and community which has existed for the last 100 years .
