Hi Save Manly Ferries Supporter,
I hope you are safe and well. Thanks again for your support.
It has been just over a year since my last update and during that time the Government has been pressured to save the globally iconic and reliable Freshwater fleet.
This petition will be presented in Parliament by Jo Haylen, NSW Shadow Transport Minister, within a few months. Therefore, this is our last chance to increase support and get as many signatures as possible, so please share this petition.
The current status of the loved Freshwater fleet…
- Collaroy – Saved runs on weekends & public holidays only
- Freshwater (est. 1982) – Saved runs on weekends & public holidays only
- Narrabeen – Saved & undergoing maintenance
- Queenscliff (est. 1983) – Retired 13/10/21 and bellowing to be back on Sydney harbour
Whilst these achievements are impressive, the fact remains that the new Emerald class ferries since they hit the water have proven they are inferior and should have never replaced the powerful Freshwater fleet.
The inferior Emerald class:
- have approximately 1/3 of the passenger capacity (approx. 400)
- have 80 plus defects to be rectified
- can’t handle large swells or all-weather conditions
- services are cancelled and buses replace them (if available)
- can’t keep to their timetable schedule
- have accessibility issues for passengers using wheelchairs, and those boarding with prams & bikes
- embarking and disembarking of passengers takes longer due to poor design and causes delays
Please continue to share the change.org petition. Here’s a post and link prepared for you to copy & share on social media:
