Decision time nears for Crystal Palace as London Stadium legacy exposed
Dec 5, 2017 — The Mayor of London has exposed the London Stadium is losing £20m annually, with staggering millions of pounds needed to manually move the ‘retractable’ seating to host athletics, every time used. It's his largest annual expense for the stadium, and his recent report admits the whole arrangement was based more on timeliness and budget rather than a lasting legacy!
For a tiny fraction of this annual budget, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre could be restored to its former glories and upgraded to a venue fit for the twenty-first century. Not only could it host community, regional and major events all year, it would offer a superb multi-sport iconic facility for all Londoners to use and be proud of once more. With its exceptional transport network it is would be the most accessible multi-sports athletics venue in the UK, providing a true 'lasting legacy' for the Capital.
Tell the Mayor your thoughts now before rash decisions consign the Palace to the history books for good. Sign and share the petition to help save the Crystal Palace NSC for a real viable and lasting sporting legacy.
