I shall be submitting this petition to Informa's head office before the end of the week, though it will remain open for as long as this campaign continues. Several of you have contacted me with specific questions about what we as an academic community can do in addition to signing a petition. Here are a few suggestions: * If you have not yet done so, consider writing a letter to Informa expressing your concerns and requesting more information. If you wish to make it public, send a copy to gregoryra@missouri.edu and I shall post it on the blog * If you are attending your profession's annual meeting in the next few weeks, consider bringing your concerns about the purchase of Ashgate to the general meeting and ask for a statement from your organization. You may also wish to visit the Ashgate table at the book exhibit and speak with representatives there about your concerns. (If you do, perhaps also post information to social media about whether or not Ashgate still has a stand-alone table and whether or not representatives at the table know about the books they are selling/wear Ashgate badges). * If you work in publishing or have contacts who do so, encourage them to hire editorial staff seeking new positions following the purchase of Ashgate (& Pickering & Chatto) by Informa earlier this year. Now some updates and requests for information: First, the situation with Pickering & Chatto is worrisome. Several P&C authors and series editors have reported that the press is being completely absorbed.
