Hello supporters
Just a little update on our petition.
We’re still pushing along, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has signed, shared and contributed so far. Every bit of support helps.
As far as I’m aware, no government or Melbourne Polytechnic funding has currently been granted for the actual restoration of Aradale — although the buildings are being assessed. Of course, assessments are an important step, but they don’t guarantee that the repairs and restoration Aradale desperately needs will happen.
I’m sure many of you have also heard the news about Sunbury Asylum being used as the next location for The Block.
Personally, I find it quite sad to see these beautiful historic buildings being used this way when I would much rather see them restored, protected and kept available for tours, so future generations can continue to learn about their history and what these places once were.
It also raises an important question for Aradale.
If a historic asylum can be repurposed for something completely different, what’s to stop Aradale from eventually going down a similar path? We don’t want to lose another significant piece of Victoria’s history.
That’s why I’m asking, if you don’t want to see that happen to Aradale, please keep sharing the petition.
Let’s keep the pressure on, keep Aradale in the conversation and work together to help protect its future.
