📣 Petition Update – Ongoing Efforts to Preserve Florida Youth ChalleNGe Academy We want to take a moment to share that there have been active and ongoing efforts happening behind the scenes to advocate for the future of the Florida Youth ChalleNGe Academy. This is not just a conversation, this is a coordinated effort. Outreach has already been made to multiple departments and leadership within the State of Florida, including: • Department of Education • Department of Juvenile Justice • Department of Veterans Affairs • State leadership and offices connected to youth development and program oversight The goal of this outreach is to explore real solutions, not just to prevent closure, but to restructure, strengthen, and sustain this program under new support if necessary. In addition, alumni and supporters are: • Speaking with local officials • Engaging with community leadership • Bringing awareness to decision-makers • Organizing efforts to ensure this program is not overlooked We are also seeing that this is not just a Florida issue; similar Youth ChalleNGe programs across the country are facing closures, which makes it even more critical that we act now. We recognize that there have been concerns raised, including the need for stronger mental health support, proper oversight, and accountability. These concerns matter, and they should be part of how this program is improved moving forward. At the same time, this program has: • Impacted over 223,000 graduates nationwide • Contributed more than 14.2 million hours of community service • Changed the lives of thousands of youth in Florida over the past 25 years This is why we are advocating not just to “save” the program, but to rebuild it better, safer, and stronger for future generations.
