Our rally this past Sunday, November 13, 2022 in the Elena Gallegos Open Space was a success! We had a substantial turnout and are so grateful to everyone who trekked up to the trailhead to show their love for the Elena Gallegos. The weather was beautiful, our rally was peaceful, and we had a lot of fun connecting with Albuquerque's running community. You can view more photos from the rally on this Instagram post or this Facebook post.
The rally was covered by KOB 4 Local News! We are grateful to KOB for the opportunity to reach viewers across Albuquerque. KOB is not planning to post the segment to their website, but you can view it on this Instagram post or this Facebook post. We also have it posted as an Update on the Updates page of our website.
We appreciate any media coverage we can get but are still hoping for more complete coverage in the future. The KOB segment did not mention the name of our grassroots committee ("Save the Elena Gallegos"), nor this petition (which is rapidly approaching SEVEN THOUSAND signatures). And as with our previous segment on KRQE, the reporter mentioned that the City's proposed development violates "an old purchase agreement" -- but did not mention that it also expressly violates the literal Deed which governs the land, nor that violating the Deed and Purchase Agreement establishes a legal precedent for buildings in the Elena Gallegos, which opens the door for unchecked future development. The people of Albuquerque need to know what is truly at stake in this discussion.
Thank you for your continued support and care! We are launching our crowdfunding campaign within the next few days. Let's save the Elena Gallegos!
