Hello friends and neighbors,

Thank you for signing our petition. Something important is happening Monday and we need your help.

Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui, Councillor Patty Nolan, and Councillor Marc McGovern have put forward policy order #3 for Monday’s City Council meeting asking the City Manager to explain how the decision to replace Ahern Field’s grass with artificial turf was made, and to pause construction until that report is delivered.

This is an important step in the process. But it only moves forward if the council hears from the community.

Here’s what to do:

  1. SIGN UP TO SPEAK here
Sign-up is now open and closes at 6pm on Monday 4/13.
The meeting begins at 5:30pm on Monday — join in-person (2nd floor City Hall) or remotely via Zoom.
In-person comments carry more weight, but written comments are also welcome.

  2. WHEN YOU SPEAK, state your support for PO #3 and ask for three things:
    • A pause in the construction project
    • The City Manager to revisit this decision
    • A full, transparent community process going forward

  3. CAN’T SPEAK? Send a written comment by 6pm Monday to:
    yhuang@cambridgema.gov
    cityclerk@cambridgema.gov
    citycouncil@cambridgema.gov
    kwatkins@cambridgema.gov
Feel free to Cc or Bcc saveahernfield@gmail.com

The more voices the council hears on Monday, the harder it is to ignore.

Please forward this to anyone who cares about Ahern Field.

Thank you,

Friends of Ahern Field
