ACAPULCO GLENDALE'S FINAL GOODBYE: THIS SUNDAY'S BRUNCH ON AUGUST 9TH, 2026

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news. The property owner has told Acapulco that it must vacate the premises this coming week while he prioritizes the car wash, which means Acapulco Glendale will close after Sunday's Brunch on August 9th. This is an incredibly sad day for Glendale and for everyone who has loved this restaurant for generations.
But our fight is not over. As a reminder, property owner Ralph Horowitz has said all along that if the proposed car wash does not get approved, Acapulco can return — with the kitchen and furniture still in place and ready to go.
That is why we still need to show up at the August 27th 5pm car wash hearing (Municipal Services Building: 633 E Broadway, Suite 105, Glendale, CA). We need to make it crystal clear to the city that whether or not Acapulco is physically there, we do NOT want a car wash or any other drive-through development at this historic location.
And we should also make our vision for the future clear: we would love to see a hybrid redevelopment that preserves Acapulco, or something similar, at this location — or see Acapulco return somewhere else in Glendale.
Sunday may be the end of an era, but it does not have to be the end of the story. Please keep showing up. Keep speaking up. Keep fighting. SAVE ACAPULCO!
