Day 1: 33 signatures, the YMCA has replied, and a family photo this Saturday

Thank you — 33 signatures in the first day.

What's happened: the YMCA has confirmed in writing that Brisbane City Council owns the site and the YMCA holds the lease. That matters, because when the YMCA left its Sunshine Coast centre this year, the landlord found a new provider to take over. We've asked Council to look at doing the same here, and our federal MP's office is talking to the YMCA.

Two things you can do.

FIRST — if your child goes to the centre, or you work there: fill in the 1-minute "would you stay?" form on the sign at the front desk, or text me and I'll send it. A new provider's first question will be how many families would stay. I'm sending the count to Council and the MPs on Friday.

SECOND — family photo this Saturday 31 October, 9:30am, on the footpath outside the gate (corner of Mannington Rd and Chifley St). 20 minutes, kids welcome, bring a home-made sign. Text me if you're coming. Children only appear in photos with a parent's signed permission.
