Petition update

SUCCESS! SUCCESS! SUCCESS!!!!!! The Live Oak tree will be SAVED!

Elisa Morrell

Oct 28, 2017 — All,
Received the BEST NEWS EVER from Virginia Beach (THANK YOU FRANK FENTRESS & SUSAN FRENCH!) after the city had a master arborist (THANK YOU JASON HEIZER of Bartlett Tree Experts) do a Risk Assessment which resulted in the determination that the tree is "Low risk" & recommended taking a number of mitigation measures to decrease the risk further. The Virginia Beach Landscape Department of Parks & Recreation determined that the Live Oak in Chic's Beach IS WORTH SAVING!!!

The administrator wrote:
"[Risk assessment] recommendations included crown cleaning, branch reduction and root pruning......I’m pleased to tell you that when mitigation has been carried out, these actions should result in a low residual risk of tree failure. The city’s Risk Management Division is aware of this plan, and we will also need to commit to having annual risk assessments done to monitor how the tree responds to the corrective measures."

BOTTOM LINE: The city of Virginia Beach has agreed to take the necessary mitigation measures to SAVE THE TREE

THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION, SPREAD THE WORK AND IN EVERY WAY HELPED SUPPORT OUR LIVE OAK TREE!

Sincerely,
Elisa Morrell & the Live Oak Team
