Thank you for your support – YOUR SUPPORT made a big difference and we are a step closer to saving 87 Bowden Street from demolition: 1. Council has placed an Interim Heritage Order on 87 Bowden Street 2. Council has listed 87 Bowden Street on the Local Environment Plan for Local Significance on the property - passed unanimously; 3. Council’s Planning and Environment Committee's proposed rejection of the DA was adopted with the vote being 11 for, and 1 (Clr Maggio) against. Stage 2 – THE NEXT CHALLENGE IS THE BIG ONE The Land and environment court. The developer has commenced proceedings and a 34 Conciliation conference will be required. This allows for community involvement. Our challenge is to achieve a ruling for a sympathetic renovation of the house to enable a boutique Child Care Centre of no more than 40 seats. The interim heritage listing covers the next six months and protects the house from demolition whilst a study, to determine its significance, is carried out by experts in this field. We are confident this will confirm the Heritage Value of the house, and it will be permanently listed, however nothing is ever certain. There is a long tough battle ahead but with your support we won Stage 1 and we can win Stage 2 if we keep focused and keep up the pressure.
