Hi Everyone!

We continue to be incredibly humbled by the support of everyone who has signed this petition - it hasn't gone unnoticed by us. It has helped us to get the attention of our City Councilperson and other key stakeholders.

A reminder that the public hearing to officially decide our fate is this Tuesday, Sept 9th, @ 2 pm, and we need people to attend.

Each person will be given one minute to speak. Here are some example talking points: 

I oppose this proposed development because it:

• Would result in the loss of much-needed rent-stabilized/affordable housing in East Hollywood and harm the local community
• Does not comply with the laws: 

  This project is noncompliant with State Bill CA SB8, noncompliant with California’s “No Net Loss” law, noncompliant with Los Angeles Resident Protection Ordinance RPO, noncompliant with SNAP, the Station Neighborhood Area Plan, and last but not least, noncompliant with CEQA, the California Environmental Quality Act.  

• Does not create any new affordable housing in the community; instead, it would displace long-standing tenants and worsen the city's housing crisis
• This plan does not align with the city's planning goals to create more affordable housing in Los Angeles, and in fact works against them
• We’ve been told by city officials that people speaking at the hearing have by far the most significant impact, but if you can't attend on Tuesday, the next best thing is sending a written statement before the meeting.

To make that easier for people, here is a LINK to a template for public comment. You can copy our template from the first link and then paste it in this LINK to make a public comment online.  Since they need to be in before the meeting, we're asking people to please, please send an online public comment by Monday if at all possible.

Feel free to change what is in there and make it your own, or you can send it as is (remember to sign it with your name at the bottom, though). If that link doesn't work for you, here is a Google Doc with the email addresses, subject line, and suggested email body that you can copy and paste.
