Astoria, NY – April 12, 2025 – The 31st Street Business Association will hold a press conference tomorrow, April 13 at 2:00 PM, in front of King Souvlaki (31st Street & 31st Avenue) to oppose the proposed bike lane that would severely impact small businesses, endanger the safety of cyclists, and increase congestion along 31st Street.
In just under a week, the Business Association has mobilized the community, collecting over 2,000 petition signatures in protest of the proposal. The plan threatens the livelihood of dozens of neighborhood staples that form the backbone of Astoria and are essential to keeping our city running.
Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar will join the press conference to express solidarity with the affected businesses. Her presence highlights the critical importance of supporting small businesses that form the backbone of our neighborhoods.
The 31st Street Business Association invites members of the media and concerned community members to attend the press conference and hear firsthand from business owners about the potential impacts of the proposed bike lane.
