As the FDA continues to focus on non-animal testing methods, promoting initiatives that reduce animal use in safety and efficacy testing for pharmaceuticals and direct the agency to clarify that animal toxicology tests are not necessary for clinical trials, they have also provided information on Cosmetic and Sunscreen Testing! Please see update below:

“An additional $2 million is allocated to implement the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulations Act, bringing the total funding to $9 million.  This aims to phase out animal testing for cosmetic safety. The package also incorporates the SAFE Sunscreen Standards Act to accelerate FDA reviews and promote non-animal safety testing methods for sunscreen ingredients.
