Community Meeting Tuesday October 6, at 10 A.M. Carver Village Park

Hello All,
I spoke with Kesha Gibson-Carter on yesterday and she agreed to attend a community listening sessions meeting in the Carver Village Park area on October 6, 2020 at 10 am. A flyer is being created to share through social media and to be passed out to the residence of Carver Village. I joined a meeting today, and was also able to get consensus from our incoming County Commissioner Kenneth Adams who also consented to attending. I have not hear from Mayor Johnson on the matter as of yet.
Also, attending the meeting was the current County Commissioner Chester Ellis, Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier, Alderwoman at Large Alicia Miller Blakely, and the City Manager. In conversation with Mr. Adams, the city manager joined in our conversation, which in whole all of the representatives ended up joining us in the conversation about Historic Carver Village.
Mr. Ellis continued to say this is the wishes of Carver Village, the city manager said that it's too late this should have happened 18 months ago. I expressed that the building use should be repurposed, and he said well where do you put the staff... I said you leased space before. I continued to speak on the fact that the particular location isn't properly marked, and it has just as a horrific history as The Weeping Time. Putting the city maintenance facility there is not a good fit for that location. I invited them all to the community meeting on Tuesday at 10 am at the Carver Village Park near the Community Center.
Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier said she will check her schedule and may be in attendance. She also spoke of the buffer that was a agreed upon, and the lake and beautification advocacy that her and other residence advocated for. I asked the city manager, can he speed it up, he said he will look into seeing if it can be a greater push to get moving on those amenities that were to accompany the development.
We will meet at Carver Village Park near the Community Center at 10 am on Tuesday October 6, 2020. Please attend so the Historic Carver Village community voices can be heard, to allow the attending elected officials to gather more information in order to be able to advocate for the Community and it's future.
Again, Alderwoman At Large Kesha Gibson-Carter and Incoming County Commissioner Kenneth Adams will be in attendance.
Thank you,
Natavia Sanders
