Tonight at 7 PM Don't miss it. Call in directions here.
The City of Santa Cruz Planning Commission will be voting on the Objective Standards which will include Water St., Soquel Ave this Thursday, June 30 at 7 pm. Due to the density bonus that any developer can use if they include the required amount of affordable housing the buildings can be 10 stories high. Due to Water St and Soquel Ave not being wide enough to accommodate this density and our bus system not being reliable, it would help our city if the 25% affordable units were built without a density bonus to stay to the 50 ft -55 ft general plan height. Ask the Planning Commission to make a requirement for the MU-H (multi-unit high density) to be built with 25% affordable units before a density bonus. And for the Planning Commission to request the Santa Cruz City Council to ask the city staff to apply for state grants and actively search out funds to build 100% affordable housing in Santa Cruz. Monterey & Salinas have built 100% affordable units. This will help Santa Cruz meet its RHNA goals. Call in this information during the meeting or write cityplan@cityofsantacruz.com. Or call
