Good to see that at last Sandwell Council have caught up with Walsall Council with regards removal of encampments. Our petition called for cross council and police working on a joint protocol to come to a clear policy for all. Express & Star link: http://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-news/2017/01/21/sandwell-council-backs-tough-new-powers-to-tackle-illegal-traveller-camps/ We are certainly moving in the right direction and this petition has coerced, pushed, shoved and used the press to get all parties talking to sort. We have seen laws put in place and some areas with clear status designations that will mean encroachments are illegal and others where removal within 24hrs will be expedited. More info' will follow with regards specifically areas on the Yew Tree/Delves and after a meeting this Friday I hope to update further. On Feb 10th the Police Crime Commissioner will be holding a "Traveller Summit" which hopefully I shall be attending and I look forward to putting forward the community view and look for better protection, communication and quicker action. Again I thank you all for your help and support and I will keep everyone informed as much as possible.
