Yesterday the state clearly hinted that school mask mandates will become a local issue. They are clearly buying time for the school districts to prepare for the changes. The state is set to make that announcement on Feb. 28th. 

What we will be asking our district is to make sure they are ready to make a move to make masks optional, and not open up a month-long debate that ends with masks coming off after spring break. Even if that move is to announce that masks will be optional in 1-2 weeks after the 28th to give parents time to digest the changes, we are okay with that. What we don't want, is for this to drag on for months in debates at school board meetings and for masks to remain on for the rest of the school year.

I will be emailing our petition to the school board and the superintendent today. So they know this move has support from the community. I would ask that we continue to reach out to families in the district and let them know to sign this petition. Please share this petition with your friends that are in the district.
