Women Occupy San Diego
18.08.2017
THIS is inexcusable, and has been going on for over a year, as tracked by WOSDer Martha Sullivan and Lori Saldaña, and reported by iNewsource. Thank You to Voice of San Diego for this heartbreaking and enraging update, as the worst outbreak of Hepatitis A in CA in 20 years rages here in America's Finest City, with 11 deaths of mostly homeless people:
"Danielle and her friend Debbie, a 60-year-old woman with irritable bowel syndrome, recalled an accident the she had a few months ago when a nearby grocery store restroom was closed.
"Debbie soiled her clothes. She was mortified.
"Danielle said she reluctantly approached Stella Public House and asked if they’d let her friend clean up in their restroom.
"Danielle said restaurant staff initially said that the bathrooms were closed.
“I had to almost beg them, ‘This isn’t a joke. She seriously needs to use the restrooms,’” Danielle recalled. “They’re sitting there, just locked.”
"Eventually, she said, a restaurant worker let the two women into one of the public restrooms to get cleaned up."
TODAY-- Call (preferred) or email San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer to demand he IMMEDIATELY provide 24/7 ATTENDED PORTA-POTTIES and HANDWASH STATIONS for Unsheltered San Diegans.
CLEARLY, weekly "abatement" (clearing) of Unsheltered San Diegans' camps is not stopping this Public Health Crisis. Ticketing, Fines and Arrests are not, either.
Stop wasting taxpayer monies and SDPD time!
Redirect these scarce resources to actions that actually address the crisis! Hire and train Unsheltered San Diegans to Attend and Maintain these public health facilities, and have SDPD respond when illegal activity is underway.
