🐾 BIG NEWS, BIG BEAR VALLEY…
Today marks the first official step toward something our community has needed for a long time.
I am excited to announce the formation of the Humane Society of Big Bear Valley.
Over the past several months, I’ve spoken with local animal advocates, business owners, community leaders, volunteers, and residents who all share one belief:
Big Bear Valley can do more for its animals.
On Tuesday, June 30, a small group of founding community members will gather to begin building an organization dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals throughout our valley.
This isn’t about replacing the incredible work already being done.
It’s about bringing people together.
Our first priorities are clear:
🐾 Help keep pets with the families who love them through a Pet Food Assistance Program.
🐾 Reduce unwanted litters by developing free and low-cost spay and neuter programs, with special attention to large dogs.
🐾 Build a community foster network to help save more animals from our local shelter and from Devore Animal Shelter.
🐾 Establish the Annual Animal Networking Convention, bringing together rescues, shelters, veterinarians, nonprofits, businesses, volunteers, and animal advocates from across Southern California to collaborate and share solutions.
Our vision is simple:
A Big Bear Valley where no family has to surrender a beloved pet because they can’t afford food, where more shelter animals find loving homes, and where our community works together to improve animal welfare for generations to come.
This first meeting is not a fundraiser.
It is not a board election.
It is the beginning of a community conversation.
I want to thank the incredible people who have already expressed an interest in helping build this vision. Your willingness to step forward gives me tremendous hope for what we can accomplish together.
This is only the beginning.
