All dogs in this video have been relocated from Big Bear and surrounding areas to Devore Animal Care and Control. They never tell us why BUT here is what we know:

• It takes longer for Big Bear residents to drive to Devore to get their animals. They charge approximately $11 per day to hold your dog. This increases the amount residents have to pay to get animals out which means more animals die. They should be required to hold local dogs in Big Bear if they are found, surrendered, or removed from a property. I'm working with a Big Bear Lake resident now who is being charged $1000 after his dogs were removed from the property. He can not afford $1000 and the dogs are on their kill list.

• Not all animals removed from Big Bear are listed on the animal facility website. Big Bear Lake residents and tourists don't even know their dogs or cats are there. Because of this, the animals are killed without residents or tourists knowing their animals were found.

• Many tourists who visit Big Bear do not realize that animals found in Big Bear are taken to Devore. So, when tourists visit Big Bear and their animals get away, they aren't even aware that they need to be checking Devore Animal Care and Control in addition to Big Bear Animal Care and Control.

As Big Bear home owners and residents, we need to start demanding our Big Bear City Council does better for us and our guests who stay in the community. Please consider all the dogs in this video.
