Because you called, Devore Animal Care and Control (who manages our Big Bear Animal Control Facility from down the hill) has changed their mind about how to handle a local Big Bear Lake home owner's dogs who were taken from his home after his home was red-tagged. These are dogs who have not attacked or bitten anyone. They are called by many "escape artists." These two dogs are friends and relation.
Because you called, Big Bear / Devore Animal Control has decided to allow these dogs to go to an animal rescue on Thursday morning. Only hours ago, they were refusing to allow an animal rescue to intervene. Because you called, our community has one more chance to save these two dogs.
Because I called the owner of the dogs, I found out that one of his immediate neighbors has been harassing him for years about his dogs. After a little research, I've discovered his neighbor works for one of our large commercial properties here in Big Bear Lake and might be attempting to unfairly influence the futures of these dogs. Please don't be a coward and report animals who you might not like to animal control first. Try to work with your neighbors and help them do the right thing for their animals. Be helpful. In conclusion, because you called and saved a life, we need to keep searching for homes for these two local dogs who are now available to be rescued. "Available for rescue" means the shelter has agreed to release the dogs to an animal rescue. I am working on becoming a 501C3 rescue organization but have not yet completed my filing. So, first as a community, we need to find a rescue group who is willing to help us with these two dogs. At the same time, we need to be searching for potential dog owners for these two dogs. The dogs CAN BE separated. If you are interested, please reach out to me by texting 213-948-3165. We are looking for someone who is experienced handling German Shepherds. This is a NOW thing. You must also have a large, high fenced in yard and financial resources to aid in helping these dogs get some behavioral training if needed. Please share and help.
