Breed Specific Legislation discriminates and regulates breeds that are typically pit bulls. According to the The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, there is no evidence that BSL makes communities safer for people or animals. In turn BSL negatively portrays breeds such as the pit-bull and can lead to a higher number of pit bulls in shelters that may be euthanized if no adoption takes place, due to overpopulation within shelters. "The CDC has noted that many other factors beyond breed may affect a dog’s tendency toward aggression—things such as heredity, sex, early experience, reproductive status, socialization and training" (aspca.org). Pit bulls deserve a loving home and an equal chance to a happy and whole life, but with BSL around, the image of the pit bull and breeds alike is depleted as many (3 out of 5) have the idea installed in them that they are more aggressive than other breads. Please help change the narrative. Help us eliminate BSL.
