Sadly, I am back promoting this petition again.
Things seemed to have gotten better at Devore and many other shelters in Southern California prior to Covid. With the Covid restrictions now being lifted, masses of people that adopted dogs in the year 2020 when we were mainly in lockdown are all dumping these dogs back into the shelters or onto the streets. This is creating a massive overcrowding at all of the Southern California shelters.
Devore’s recent Euthanasia List has 29 dogs listed; sadly at the end of this week, 10 of those dogs have already been killed by the shelter. Other shelters in the area are mass killing as well. These are HEALTHY dogs! At Devore, if a dog coughs, growls or barks they are labeled RESCUE ONLY which makes their chances of survival so much worse. To make matters worse, getting a speedy response from the rescue team is also a problem, thus adding to diminished chances of survival for these animals.
When will this end? When will people take responsibility for their animals and their care. Massive amounts of neglected seniors with major medical issues never addressed by their owners, are simply dumped on the street or in the shelter like yesterday’s trash. The rescues are working around the clock to save as many as we can; but we are losing the battle.
Shelters and rescues need help; rescues need donations and other types of support; shelters need networking and people to step up to adopt!

***This shelter does not temp test ANY dog & the dogs do not get any type of REGULAR enrichment while waiting for adoption/rescue. Don't believe me? I encourage you to either search social media for videos, photos, posts in general showing enrichment type activities going on on a REGULAR basis and I encourage everyone to actually go check out the shelter for yourself. Ask to see the play yard or enrichment area the dogs are allowed to run around and/or play in. I ask everyone to keep this in mind when reading notes regarding behavior observed. ***
Rescues have to pull dogs on faith and I understand this is a tall order but what I can tell you is, if you watch each of the dog's videos you can hopefully get a better glimpse of what they are really like!
Please share with reputable rescues & ask them to come save a life!!!
