On August 12, 2020 Sally Russell allowed her community to become victims of illegal action by the federal government, and she tweeted in support of what ICE was doing. Later, she tried to say she didn’t support ICE. 

Here is her first statement:

“I’ve been informed that both men being detained have warrants out for their arrest. This is not a sweep for undocumented immigrants. Let’s please keep our community safe. Please leave peacefully.”

She should resign immediately and let us know how she’s going to continue learning more about how her privilege affected her first statement.

I look forward to the collective community of Central Oregon recognizing this for what it is:

- Massive federal overreach and extreme waste of taxpayer dollars.
- Sending a team of ICE agents into the center of a sanctuary state with two massive busses to target residents by race.
- Detaining two community fathers and removing them from their families and, as far as we know, No warrant has been presented to the Deschutes County DA as of Thursday 5 p.m.
- Using pepper spray against peaceful citizens demanding due process for their community members in accordance to state law. *Update* it was confirmed by the Bulletin on August 13 that tear gas, less lethal rounds and force were also used. 

How is “ICE” acting any differently than the abhorrent gestapo tactics of race/religion based police forces of history?

To paraphrase John Hummel, “I’ve never been so disgusted by my government, but so proud of my community.”
