Reopen Salford Royal One Stop Breast Clinic
The Issue
The One Stop Breast Clinic at Salford Royal hospital has closed down. This means patients now have to travel to the breast clinic in Wythenshawe, a nearly 8 mile walk away from Salford, to receive the high standards of care, assurance and treatment the clinic provides.
This might not be a huge problem for drivers, people who have someone who can drive them to the clinic, or those living close to Wythenshawe. But what about elderly people who live alone and do not drive? What about those who live a long walk away from public transport?
The lack of accessibility of the clinic at Salford Royal could put people off from having regular check ups and receiving early and life-saving treatment. For example, choosing not to bother travelling to Wythenshawe for their mammogram because they "feel fine." When in fact, they are not fine inside...
The One Stop Breast Clinic at Salford Royal needs to reopen. It's so important that the people of Salford have easy access to the care they are entitled to, particularly during unsettling and difficult times.
