As many of you will already know, next week Eastbourne's MP Stephen Lloyd, who has been leading our campaign efforts in Parliament to establish a Royal Commission on Policing has secured a short Westminster Hall Debate next Tuesday am. Mr Lloyd has told me it's absolutely essential that we keep pressing our own respective MPs to sign his Early Day Motion. We're up to 48 thus far, but really need to breach 3 figures to achieve cut-through in Westminster.

Consequently, if your MP has yet to sign Lloyd's EDM, please email them (template below) attaching the link as well as flagging the Westminster Hall Debate next week urging that they step up to do something real and practical for our police services. We see every day the shocking increase in knife crimes around parts of the country, we hear some politicians saying that it's nothing to do with police cuts, others saying it is and in amongst all this, confusion about exactly what would be the right resources for our police services and how they should best be deployed. It's time the government cut through the babble to get proper, expert and experienced advice ensuring those fine men and women in blue on the front line are able to do their job properly. And the only way we're going to get there in my and yours opinion, is this police Royal Commission. I am contacting you today about a petition I have recently supported asking for the government to instigate a Royal Commission into Police Funding in the 21st Century. The petition was set up by a retired senior police officer of 39 years and now has the support of over 370,000 signatories from across the country.
