Surging levels of violence across the country have unsurprisingly resulted in Brits becoming far more concerned about crime than they were at the start of 2018.
YouGov have found that 23% of the country now regards crime as one of the top issues, compared to just 11% who said the same at the start of the year.
The issue now ranks higher on the the list of priorities for those in Britain than housing, defence/security and education.
And with a shocking number of stabbings, shootings and acid attacks, concern is even higher in London where 30% of people regard it as a top priority.
Urgent action is required here. We need more police, an enhanced stop and search strategy, longer prison sentences and a zero tolerance approach when it comes to violent criminals. The public clearly want to see a tougher approach.
