Email from Stephen Lloyd MP - Thx for this Kevin. Very helpful. I will progress when Parliament returns from Recess second week of Oct. I’m off on hols myself from next week for ten days so am copying this email into my senior researcher in Westminster, Dean Sabri, so we can pick up soon.

It would be good for us to meet up for a chat in Eastbourne as well. So also copying in my diary sec Kathy Bond and she’ll be in touch.

I think the Royal Commission idea has legs so will explore how best to maximise and keep you briefed.

We’re on the same page my friend, not least as I have a number of my family going back generations who were in the police force!

Dear Stephen,

I have been copied into a Facebook response that you kindly provided to Bob Diplock, the Secretary of the Eastbourne NARPO (National Association of Retired Police Officers).

I am extremely grateful for your support and indeed your willingness to take the petition and its aims to Parliament and speak on the issue in an effort to have the matter debated.

I appreciate that Royal Commissions are not generally welcomed by Governments and therefore I am delighted that you are prepared to attempt to progress our petition towards achieving such an outcome.

I still care passionately about policing even though I recently retired after almost 40 years. My father also served before me with Sussex Police. Therefore the future of policing is something that I hold dear to my heart. The petition has now attracted nearly 240,000 signatures and I have added a number of updates on it in order to keep people informed, including specifically your support of it.

I was therefore wondering whether you in a position to be able to give me an indication of when you may be able to advance things in this regard? I would like to coincide this with a real push of support across the country through those who have supported the petition. If I can assist any further perhaps by meeting with you then please feel free to let me know.

I have included a biography in order that you are in a position to know a little of my background as well as details of ROWC (Retired Officers Who Care) the group that I represent which is Sussex based.
