Hi everyone,

Thank you again for signing - we are just over 103,000 signatures!

We have the support of our MP, Greg Hands - now we need the full support of as many MPs as possible to get blue badges for people with temporary disabilities. So, I need your help on this one!

First: Click here to find out who your MP is and what their email address is https://www.writetothem.com/

Then: Email asking them to pledge their support and raise the case in Parliament. Feel free to write your own text or use this template:

Dear MP xxx

I am one of over 103,000 people across the U.K. who have signed the https://www.change.org/bluebadgesforcancerpatients

Over 1m people undergoing anticancer therapy aren’t currently eligible for blue badges due to the fact their disability is not permanent. This needs to change.

To be eligible for a blue disabled badge, ‘You [must] have a disability and have a great difficulty walking from your car to where you want to go’. One of the key side effects of anticancer therapies is ‘Hand-foot syndrome’; which can ‘irritate the soles of the feet[1]’ and hinder mobility. This should therefore allow anyone who is going through anticancer therapy to be eligible for a blue disabled badge for the duration of their treatment.

As my MP, I am calling on you to do the following:

  • Raise the issue of blue badges for people with temporary disabilities in Oral or Written questions
  • Pledge your support publicly for blue badges for people with temporary disabilities
  • Tweet the petition with a message of support

Thank you

Thank you all,

Georgie x
